Street artists tie up London and Mexico

Acclaimed Mexican street artist Ciler joins London’s Cityzen Kane in a collaborative project at the Brick Lane Gallery this week.

The show, Ciler’s first on UK soil, will seem him and Kane collaborate on a new work to be completed in front of an audience on the exhibition’s opening night.

Commissioned by el Jimador tequila, Distorting Views showcases the work of the street artists including the collaboration and selected pieces from both artists, which are usually reserved for the streets of their respective home cities.

Ciler, best known for creating arresting imagery that changes familiar shapes and pictures with often unsettling results, is a rising star on the international street art scene. Following Distorting Views, he is set to complete a huge work for the façade of one of Mexico City’s most important contemporary art museums, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, in November.

Cityzen Kane uses his vivid, otherworldly sculptures to distort the often grey streets of London. Disrupting the convention that street art is painted on to walls, Kane also uses fabric and glass to create works that play with light and colour.
