A little bit patriotic (but just a little bit): Frank Hamilton’s song of the week

With the Jubilee weekend rapidly approaching, singer-songwriter Frank Hamilton has been thinking about England. ”Thing is, I think England can be a bit rubbish” says Frank, “but I know I’ll never live anywhere else.”

Each week we bring you the latest track by the multi-talented musician from his project One Song A Week, which sees him write, record and release one song a week for a whole year. This week’s song is all about Frank’s love/ hate relationship with England. And a lot of people will agree, you can feel frustrated and fed up with the place, but – let’s face it – you would’ve already packed your bags if it was that dire. As the song says, “This is England, and I know I’ll stay forever.”

Recorded at Franks home, the track features Jose Vanders accompanying on vocals and Hugh Davies on trumpet. Even though the lyrics describe England’s bad weather and the lack of smiling faces on the Tube, it still managed to make us feel a little bit patriotic. Now where did that bunting go?
