Yes, we can confirm London has officially gone Jubilee mad. The capital will be full of street parties, The Big Lunch is happening all over the country, and lets face it, it is a great excuse to have a party. Londoners are taking this very seriously – as well as residential streets putting on their own knees up, some of the most famous high streets and areas are putting on their own do. Here is our pick of the best…
The Book Club’s Diamond Jubilee Street Party
Bunting, beer, baking, bowler hats and brass bands. It can only mean one thing – The Book Club’s Diamond Jubilee Street Party is coming to Shoreditch and it’s time to party like its 1952. This is a free party for over 5,000 guests, with live music, DJs, entertainment, the finest food and drink, performances, games and a screen showing the Jubilee procession. The host of acts are impressive with the likes of Bestival’s much loved Hurly Burly, and fancy dress aplenty. The Book Club Street Party will feature the Guilty Pleasures DJ’s, in an unashamed, glorious celebration of all things pop. But the best part of the celebrations will be the Hackney Colliery Band, east London’s best big brass band, will be performing songs with horns. The best of British theme continues with a real ale festival hosted by local micro-brewery superstars, London Fields Brewery. There will also be specially created Jubilee cakes.

Wilton Way Street Party
For something more neighbourly, Wilton Way in Hackney will be closed off and strung with bunting, and lined with trestle tables full of party food, and it’s open to everyone, not just residents. Run by the Wilton Way Café, their street party last year for the Royal Wedding was a roaring success, with hundreds of attendees bringing along plates of food and drink to share, and music that had everyone dancing late into the evening. This year promises to be bigger than ever (find out more here), with a 1950s fancy-dress theme.
