Reservations not required: dinner is served at the V&A

The V&A’s latest Friday Late opening explores the ritual of dining. Everything to do with eating, from meal times and tableware, tea-tasting and utensil-making will be explored in a variety of events, including a talk by ceramicist Emma Bridgewater and a collaborative commission by V&A ceramicist in residence, Louisa Taylor. V&A sound artist in residence Jason Singh will perform a DJ set.

Elsewhere in the museum, you can step into a real ceramic studio and make a piece of tableware yourself – ‘coil’ a cup, ‘slab-build’ a saucer, or even ‘pinch’ a sugar bowl (that doesn’t mean steal).

If getting your hands dirty isn’t quite your cup of tea, then the art of laying the table – anathema for teenagers – will be shown in a demonstration by Peter Ting.

We can hear the bell calling already.
