Let The Hunger Games begin: film openings this weekend

The first cinematic venture for the young adult book trilogy The Hunger Games hits the multiplex this weekend. Jennifer Lawrence is set to wow audiences as Katniss Everdeen, a young girl whose life depends on a battle to the death in an annual televised event. The film is already breaking records in the States – having sold out 2,000 screens through pre-sale alone – and the reviews have been nothing short of glowing.

Also at the cinema this weekend an abandoned boy is fostered by a kindly hairdresser in The Kid With a Bike, and an ex-con receives his get-out-of-jail card in Wild Bill. For a hard-hitting action-thriller, Scout recommends Act of Valour. No need for actors; These are real US Navy Seals starring as US Navy Seals in this full length film.
