Bored of doing the same old thing every Friday night? No problem – Scout has a good option for you. The London Friday Night Skate is back, and tonight’s theme is Party Rocking to Shepherds Bush.
For the uninitiated, London Friday Night Skate (LFNS) and Sunday Stroll are weekly marshalled street skates in central London. The LFNS departs from Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner every Friday at 20.00. The Sunday Stroll departs from Serpentine Road in Hyde Park every Sunday at 14.00. Both are weather dependant so keep an eye on the LFNS website a few hours before the scheduled start. The events are open to all skaters able to stop, turn and control their speed on hills. The Sunday Stroll is a relaxed slow paced skate; the LFNS is faster, more technically demanding and may involve hills and sprints. Both inline (‘rollerblade’) and quad (‘roller skate’) skaters are A-OK. Children are also welcome provided they’re accompanied by a responsible adult willing to take them home if necessary.
Sunday’s stroll is the Parsons Green Reverse, which we’re hoping doesn’t entail backwards skating because we were rubbish at that back in the day.
The events are free and run by volunteers.
