When first proposed back in the 1940s, the remit of what is now the Victoria line was to relieve congestion on existing Underground lines serving central London. There won’t be much relief this weekend as the entire line is shut. If you’re using the Overground this weekend, pay attention to the very specific closing times. Travelling between Watford Junction and Euston at 13.00 on Sunday? You should be OK. Catching the 13.20? Think again.
