The clever people behind the Tube Refund Pro app have created a product that really taps into one of the real issues for the capital’s commuters: delays.
Few Londoners realise that whenever a Tube, DLR or Overground train is delayed by more than 15 minutes, those onboard are entitled to a refund of the cost of a single ticket on their intended route.
Unsurprisingly, the mind numbing administrative process involved means that many of those who do don’t actually bother. With Tube Refund Pro that’s no longer a problem.
Simply open the app and fill in when and where you were delayed and then sit back and wait for a voucher for the cost of your journey to arrive on your door mat.
The app itself costs just 69 pence, a price that will pay for itself after your first successful claim.
Before thinking you are on the road to riches, a warning: if your delay is caused by a security alert, bad weather, a third party action or a change of service announced in advance you’re out of luck.
However, wouldn’t it be nice if you had a reason to smile every time you heard the familiar words ‘signal’ or ‘points’ followed by ‘failure’ or any of the plethora of reasons regularly given whilst on your way to work?
Tube Refund is available to download on iTunes, as well as at the Blackberry and Android app stores.
With a summer of delays expected as a result of London 2012, there really never has been a more useful app. With the exception of Angry Birds. We love an Angry Birds session.
