Stephen Fry to appear opposite Mark Rylance in Twelfth Night at the Globe

London’s Cultural Olympiad looks set to finish on a high with the news that Stephen Fry is set to appear on stage at Shakespeare’s Globe.

The QI presenter will play Malvolio for the three week run of Twelfth Night, in what will be the culmination of The Globe’s The Play’s The Thing season.

Opposite Fry will be Mark Rylance as Lady Olivia. The Jerusalem star is familiar with the role, having played the part in 2002 whilst The Globe’s Artistic Director.

Also reprising their roles ten years on will be Liam Brennan as Orsino and Peter Hamilton Dyer as Feste.

Fry’s appearance on stage will be his first in a leading role for seventeen years.

Twelfth Night will feature an all male cast, as was Elizabethan tradition, and is scheduled to run from 22 September to 14 October.

Tickets are already on sale and, rather unsurprisingly, are selling like hotcakes. Prices range from £15 to £39 and can be bought at the box office, online, or by calling 020 7401 9919.
