If you are struggling to come to terms with missing out on tickets to Plastikman at Brixton Academy, don’t worry because Scout London’s preferred club event for this weekend takes place the following day – Numbers Warehouse Party.
We have made no secret of our love for the Glasgow based label and promoter: scout through our archive and you’ll find numerous references to Hudson Mohawke, Jackmaster and Deadboy, all of whom perform on Saturday. Jamie XX also plays and surprise guests are promised. Given Numbers’ connections with other fantastic labels like Warp and Night Slugs and with acts such as acid house pioneer DJ Pierre, an already huge line-up could explode.
There will be a limited number of tickets available on the door. These are certain to be snapped up soon after 10pm.
If you want an alternative to Plastikman on Friday night, Dinky is playing 7-9 Crusifix Lane and will probably attract Academy goers seeking an after party; and Fabric Live features Ed Banger Busy P, In Flagranti and Riton.
If the Numbers party doesn’t add up for you, Saturday has a few more parties on offer: A Night With… welcomes Matthew Dear, who in our opinion has been a far more consistent and innovative than Richie Hawtin in recent years; Mamu London XMas Party features the excellent upbeat techno player, Gary Beck; Layo & Bushwacka! invite Spanish maestro, Paco Asuna, to Shake It; and if you are prepared to dress to impress, there’s a garage monster in the form of Exposure at Club Colosseum with DJs Luck & Neat, Matt Jam Lamont and Pied Piper.
Check out our Cheap Beats post later this week for a few more options.
