Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2011: In the Presence features work by 40 emerging artists and gives audiences the opportunity to see a selection of what is going on in up-and-coming artists’ studios throughout the UK. The exhibition runs between November 23 and January 15 at the ICA.
This year’s pick of work by 40 recent graduates from UK art schools has been selected by artists Pablo Bronstein, Sarah Jones and Michael Raedecker. Those exhibiting include Leah Capaldi, Poppy Whatmore, Peles Empire and Marco Palmieri.
Established in 1949, each year New Contemporaries stages an important annual open-submission exhibition that gives people still at, or just after, art school the opportunity to show their work in the context of a professional art gallery. Each year work is selected by a panel of established artists working internationally. The selection process is completely anonymous.
The exhibition promises to promote new talent and ideas emerging in the art world, with everything from painting, installation, sculpture and film.
