Rudolph, Dancer, Prancer and Blitzen have landed at ZSL London Zoo just in time for the festive season.
There isn’t a red nose in sight at the Zoo’s new Reindeer Lodge where the reindeer have taken up residence. The four-legged beasts will be taking a daily walk around the zoo, and visitors will be able to pet the reindeer in their lodge.
Other attractions over the season include feeding time for the penguins at Penguin Beach, a grotto where you can visit Father Christmas and – although its not that Christmassy – it will be well worth visiting the lion enclosure with the arrival of two lion cubs. Everyone loves baby animals, don’t they?
Young children and their families are invited to join in a carol singalong in the Amphitheatre on 17 December, where they will be able to sing along to favourites such as ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’ and ‘Jingle Bells’. The evening concert will have a more traditional style, and is suitable for adults and older children, where guests will still be able to join in with fun classics like the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’.
Mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies will be available to warm the hands in Barclay Court, where face painting and carousel rides will also be on offer. For that extra little sprinkling of Christmas magic, Father Christmas and his reindeer will be guests of honour.
If you can’t get to the zoo this winter but fancy some wintery scenes, watch the Penguin Beach Live webcam from 14.30 daily.
