It’s just two weeks to go until London Jazz Festival (LJF), and tickets are already selling out for many of the events.

LJF runs from Friday 11 to Sunday 20 November at venues across the city including the legendary Ronnie Scotts and broader art establishments like Barbican and Queen Elizabeth Hall. Acts performing over its course reflect jazz’s status as a truly global musical form. Star turns include acclaimed Chicago saxophonist and flautist Henry Threadgill; multiple Grammy Award winning quartet, Yellowjackets; and Indian tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.

One of the most interesting propositions is Louis, which has matinee and evening performances on 13 November at Barbican Hall. The event harks back to the early days of cinema: a brand new silent film will be accompanied by live music written by Wynton Marsalis.
