While Dublin is known for its stylish doors and no Paris neighbourhood would be complete without a patisserie, Scout has always felt that London’s unsung trademark is the weird and wonderful array of shop fronts that grace the capital. A London blogger agrees, and London Shop Fronts celebrates the diversity that is London’s local trading community.
The project is the brainchild of Hackney based photographer Emily Webber, who drives around London in a lime green Vespa, hidden behind a pair of sunglasses from her collection of nearly 35.
The site is a joy, and all photos are published under the Creative Commons licence which means that you are free to use them in a non-commercial way as long as you credit the photographer.
Our favourites? Pampered Pets with the handwritten ‘kittens’ in the window either an invitation to purchase or a plea for help from the felines, and Pound Paradise, which – despite its name – promises luxury goods. In the basement.
With over 1,000 photos on the site, chances are you’ll find your local favourites and there is an online shop to buy postcards and prints.

Long Lost Londoner
One of my favourites was to be found at the top of South Lambeth Road: “Curry World – Pizza World, the Best of Both Worlds”. Yes indeed.
Mr P
I love Pampered Pets. My favourite haunt for dried Pigs Ears…
