Scout London has been championing the new fresh delivery service Housebites since its launch, so we thought what better than a 50% off sale to properly check them out.
Our order showed up on time – in fact, a bit early – and was still piping hot. Our meal was lovingly prepared by chef Wesley Thomas and Scout ordered authentic Jerk chicken and steamed fish for mains, homemade potato salad and coleslaw for sides and finished off with chocolate sponge and strawberry jam and coconut cake for dessert.
We’re happy to report that the Housebites concept is a success. For the price of a pizza Scout feasted on delicious, home cooked food that exceeded all expectations. What made the experience especially special were the extra touches the chef added to our meal. Although the website didn’t state it, our fish came with a side of rice that in itself was delicious, and the desserts were accompanied by sides of custard and yoghurt. Scout always loves a bit of a freebie. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the chicken had just enough spicy kick. The coleslaw was a nice consistency, and the potato salad was almost as good as Scout’s own (boiled egg and mustard being our secret ingredients).
The 50% off sale aside, Housebites is brilliant value for money and Scout heartily recommends the company. It looks like Wesley is taking a night off tonight, but we’re hopeful he is taking the time to come up with more fantastic recipes.
Some photos from our meal. A warning: food photography is an art, and Scout London has yet to master that skill. We hope these do the meal justice.
